Continued from the previous post yesterday on Conrad wedding planner’s partners.
Ahh to clarify… why would my wedding in 2052 (AD) ? I don’t know? apparently, perhaps, maybe, it was foretold by a fortuneteller, palm-reader or a psychic. Or maybe it was just a number that was made up so I can look forward to… it’s only 43 years from now… I should be 70 and have EVERYTHING planed and ready for my PERFECT wedding! I wonder who made that number up… hum???… Oh wait or perhaps she meant 2552 (Buddhist Era or BE) which is actually equal to 2009 AD… which is THIS YEAR!!! Wooo! that’s quick!
Anyway, let’s get back to the review on Conrad wedding planner’s partners. As far as I remember, these were the partners that attended the event. Seasons Spa, Pro Master Creations, Cattleya, Ganit, Sirena, Laura Mercier and Dynasty Collection.
Um… may I continue this tomorrow kindna wanna sleep already. There is just so much to talk about that I wouldn’t want to rush into finishing it. Okay… Tomorrow it is
*The photo: Invitation cards and wedding souvenirs by Cattleya. Aren’t they amazing!
I am always on the planning side (the do this and that for the couple) of weddings, but not yet am I on the Bride and Groom’s side (the we want this, we want that, we think this is better than this, or actually that is better) to really understand what it takes have a wedding and create that perfect moment for the wedding day.
As a groom without a bride (physically here with me at the event)… I decided to become an interested customer. With my curiosity, I must have asked everything I could of what do you think a bride would want and I would say that 99% of all the wedding items and activities were made for the bride. The groom is just something to complete the image of the wedding.
Let’s get to the review of the Wedding at Conrad…. starting from the moment I drove into the parking lot and the time that I left.
Getting from the road to the parking was very easy, however, walking to the Conrad ballroom was a bit complicated for me (this is something that we must consider if we were to plan a wedding; how convenient is access to the event for the guests) .I was lost in the All Season Place mall for a bit and must have asked a few people, “where is Conrad’s event” If you say that it could be just me that doesn’t know how to get there while the rest of the attendee know somehow? Well, assume yourself to be the guest of a wedding, most of the guest would be coming to Conrad’s for the first time. Parking… is really something that we have to consider and be included in venue decision making process.
I started it off with the 2 smaller rooms on the 2nd floor. The setting is really interesting, a bit glamorous, a tad of relaxing and a touch of luxury. These 2 rooms are great for a cozy wedding ceremony as the setting, the lighting and the size of the room really create the coziness. However, my only comment would be (not relate to the setting), the use of the products that Conrad used to display at the wedding event, I know it wasn’t mean for real event but at least please use FRESH flowers… etc. I find everything to be amazing until I start walk up closer to flower and rose petals on tables only to find out that they are about to wither and die. Sure that the event were only meant as “examples” but the impression I got was that… but the example should really be “EXAMPLE” of how it would be at to have a wedding at the Conrad.
Let’s not focus on the cost saving side too much. Later on I was greeted with a PR (Khun Mu), she was great at assisting me and showing me around (Oh, I didn’t know that the main event was on the 4th floor, until she told me!) Khun Mu wasn’t directly dealing with the wedding planing but she has help me as best to her knowledge and tell me about the schedule of events to later introduce me to Khun Phee, a sales agent (room – not for the wedding). Okay okay, I see… I guess that because I was flying SOLO without a bride at the wedding huh? So I guess they don’t take me seriously LOL. Anyway, I don’t blame them because the wedding planners are quite busy with other couples that they could really CONFIRM regarding their weddings. However, I’m not complaining… ^_^ Khun Phee was great… we discuss the pros – cons of wedding at different locations and how “PARKING + TRAFFIC” is really my big concern. *By the way we are not in the Grand Ballroom area… the ballroom can be equally partitioned into 3 rooms and that the stage would be set at the back of the 2nd room – creating a stage and the catwalk area. No No, I didn’t like that because I prefer a longer walk way. Can they do it? Of course they can! How many would be attending, he asked… approximately, umm roughly 500. (this number is nothing comparing to a wedding I am attending next week… the total number of guests is about 10,000!! WOOO!!) 500 is a great number, it seems to be the average number of guests that attend a wedding.
The different menus and setups were available such as, Buffets, Chinese tables, and Cocktails. Different types of set ups would result into the different size of capacity for the room. For Chinese table,s the maximum would be 500 guests because the setup would required spaces for tables and chair and to make sure that everyone have seats. For buffets… very similar to Chinese table but (I assume) the number of guests would have to be lower than 500 because they are going to need space to setup food stalls for guests to get their own food. (Except for the VIPs table that the food will be served to them right at the table) Cocktails allow for about 800-900 guests (if I remember correctly) because all it would need were a few tables for the Family while for the FRIENDS we could just let them wonder around the cocktail area. Cocktail and buffets are great for setups that involve more Friends than Family because it’s allow these friends to walk around and meet and greet with each other. While the Chinese table setup is kind of forcing you to not wonder around… SIT! So it’s all depend how would you like the setup to be. I went the “SIT” kind of setup… the Chinese table.
Um… let’s take a break for now. I will continue tomorrow on Conrad wedding planner’s partners.
During Easter Holiday 2009, a friend and I visited Madrid. My primary objective was to visit the Loewe store in Madrid because it is, as they told me, the very first shop that Loewe has open more than 70 years ago! It took me housr to find the store while trying not to be lost in the city. Hours had passed as I walk up and down on Gran Via Blvd only to find out that I had walked past the building many times, because they were renovating the front of the shop and I couldn’t see the sign.
I spent a lot of time at the shop being amazed by everything as it was so unreal because I would never imagine myself to have a chance to visit the store year ago when I first experience Loewe perfume. I didn’t even know before that Loewe originated in Madrid, Spain. Anyway… how could I leave the store empty handed! I spent an hour or so playing around with their perfume and fragrance until my nose could’t handle it anymore. It was fun as I had a great experience with the customer representative that is being very kind to allow me to try all of the fragrance ^_^
I left the store with a pair of fragrance… Solo Loewe and Quizás Quizás Quizás Loewe. The crazy thing was that when I got the Quizás Quizás Quizás Loewe, I had no idea who to give it to yet. But I believe that soon I will find the one to give it to. They both smell great! One for me and one for my Loewe, Matilde!
Enjoy the short video from Loewe made for Quizás Quizás Quizás (Loewe).
This mall, Siam Paragon is going to be my “almost” everyday stop once I start working next week. That is because it is just 10 minutes by walking from my internship, InterContinental Bangkok, for the next 6 months and also because my work finishes during the rush hour that turns a 20 minutes drive into a 2 hour drive! My solution is… to walk to Siam Paragon’s book shop, Internet cafe, food court and fitness after work.
At the same time, I get to learn about the architecture and design of today’s trends to keep myself up to date with the world of DESIGN.
Today, I will be heading out for interview for an internship in Bangkok. Wish me luck! Other news is that I will be servicing my computer with AppleCare. There fore I won’t have my computer to work with for at least 10 days! that is what they told me. 10 days without my laptop… that is going to be hard! But hey! it’s not that bad. I’ll figure something out so that I can continue blogging. Actually I already figured it out ^_^
So just before I go to the interview and have my computer service, I would like to blog this one. I took this photo the first time I visit Madrid but it was the 2nd time that I visit Madrid that I get to enjoy a meal there. As you can see the whole line of seats in front of the building, they all belong to one restaurant, Cafe de Oriente. They separate in sections according to menu. And that cause a bit of confusion when we wanted to sit at another location.
In the end we sat right at the corner right behind where the boy in the yellow shirt is standing. It was a really sunny day, so hot that I remember the camera became really hot as I left it in the sun and the table was also so hot that I couldn’t lean my arm on it! The food was great as was the mist of water. I remember how we were waiting for the mist to turn on… it was really that hot. We kept having one orange juice after another. It was really refreshing. So refreshing that it was gone just seconds after it was served!
A month has passed since the last class at Les Roches Marbella.
I sure miss it, the lack of time to do nothing else but work and school,
the fresh air in the morning,
the sound of the phone alarm waking me up at 6am for pastries,
the 4 cups of warm milk with Te’ at breakfast,
the delivery of muffins
the all you eat dessert at lunch!
the cutting and chopping meat and vegetable for dinner
the walk in the afternoon over the mountain
the time spent doing nothing but to enjoy the 1 hour happiness of the day
the brownie at Small World
the light breeze of each night
the shining moon over the sky
the north star that always shines
the sand and stone on the road
the sound of cricket in the woods
the moment…
Today I went to California Raisin seminar at the Sheraton Grand Bangkok, Thailand. They have demonstrated us a few pastry recipes that we can take it as inspiration to our bakery shop. They also provided us with information about the Raisin specification, how the grape was grown, trained, harvested, processed, packed and delivered.
There were so many pastry shops representatives, approximately 100 of them were there at the seminar. Yet this seminar has reminded me of the theatre performance just a few weeks ago. Because we were all focusing on the chef whom were showing us how to… this and that.
It was fun participating the seminar, got to learn so many things, and enjoy the food samples. I also got some new ideas/recipes that I would like to try sometime this week. I will then post the result of the recipe that I tried later.
Anyway, it must be interesting to be in the spotlight during the entire performance, while everyone is watching. Knowing that every move that was made cannot be redone. As I have learn from the Chef and the Dance was that… improvisation is the key. The dancer must improvise when some of the props don’t go according to plan, they must improvise in such a way that the audience doesn’t notice it. The chef, as well, must improvise on the recipe because each ingredient is different thru out the world. Being an international chef, he understood that… we cannot blindly follow the “instruction” on the recipe.
We must use our experience and our understand of the circumstance to make the best of whatever we were set out to do.
After many hours of not knowing where to go next, we decided to walk west of Plaza Mayor. Minutes later, we found ourselves standing in front of a humongous cathedral. Not knowing where we were and what it was, we just followed a group of people and foot traffic into the cathedral.
Amazingly beautiful, elegant and serene. There were numerous people inside yet it was so quiet and calm. Half of the time we sat and enjoyed just being present, and the rest of the time we walked and explore the cathedral. We also got to light a candle, an electronic candle…
Looking up, that is how I found the shot of the day. Simply beautiful.
Because we were at the show 1 hour early, so I had the time to walk around the theater. It came to my surprise that the theater is only a blog away from the wedding banquet room that I attended 2 nights ago. However, I wasn’t able to take the picture of this bridge here that night because the angle different and I told to myself that I must come back later to capture the bridge. But that “later” came just a few nights after.
What was I waiting for? I was waiting for the Hip-Hop dance Accrorap Company: “Short stories.com”. It is part of the La Fête 2009. The show was amazing. It is part modern-contemporary art dance, hip-hop dance, story telling and musical performance with a touch of comedy.
The show was amazing in that it got my body moving, my head shaking, and my feet tapping along with the music!
*As promised, the blog is back up with in a week! After just about 36 hours… it is alive!!! again!!! Yah!!! Things just keep happening sooner than expect. I take that as a good thing. ^_^
After a long week at school, a little field trip was nice as I went to the factory for the 2nd time and this time I am more prepared and more aware of what is going on in the factory, (even thought I only had 1 hour of sleep the previous night). Just like last time, at the end of the trip is open bar which mean… UNLIMITED beer!!!!!!! However, I got a bottle of Limon (lemon flavor beer) that I believe would be a great sale if they were to have this in Thailand (and I’ll make sure that… we sell this in our restaurant once it is open).
Until then, I don’t know where can I get Limon in Bangkok. Better start looking!
Okie, this is exactly a week ago. Last Wednesday was a sports event at our school. It was organized by the Post Graduate students, PG 2, which managed the event while PG1 worked as their assistants. I, unlike the Cultural night where I was in the marketing department, was working in Kitchen Department for the events. The weather was so nice that day, unfortunately I was working inside the kitchen since morning. Just for a few moments, I got to sneak out and took a few pictures of the event. Because we were managing the event, we were not allow to participate any of the sports!!!! sigh…
Back in 2001, I was in the volley ball team at San Gabriel High School where I fractured my left ankle during one evening practice. And that is how my sport career came to an end because the pain on the ankle will come up from time to time if I over use my foot. I wanna jump and spike that ball so bad!
okie… got to get back to finish my Thesis that is due next Wednesday…
Okay, so now I am on a quest to search for a really good brownie… and have probably tried all the brownie from all the places ever since I was working at Denny’s when I was going thru college. At Denny’s, they serve a “warm” brownie, topped by HOT FUDGE!!! and topped again with Vanilla ice-cream. The result is HOT and COLD, a bitter sweet and creamy BROWNIE! Well If I were to serve a brownie, that would be the way. There are 2 sides to everything in life and to find the balance between the two and to create the perfect harmony between them is not as easy as topping the bitter sweet brownie with the creamy sweet vanilla ice-cream. It is already hard enough just to find that perfect brownie… but hey… NOTHING is IMPOSSIBLE because HOPE Achieves the IMPOSSIBLE.
And if you can’t “FIND” that perfect brownie… do not give up and if you really want a good brownie why not just MAKE ONE ourselves! It just that simple ^_^
Okay, so I just woke up about 30 mins ago. The weather is gloomy and that deviate my schedule from the walk to the beach plan to the sleep more on the bed plan. Excuse excuse excuse… just to sleep more? I don’t know… the birds are chirping as well, it such a good environment to sleep! After I woke up, I felt like having something hot to drink and that is how it lead me to this moment. The day that my roommate ask me, let’s go get a coffee “somewhere” and after about 10 mins driving, 30 mins more walking… we found this coffee shop in Old Town Marbella, Spain
The table is set under a few huge trees, the wind is blowing from left to right, the sun shines thru those tree leaves and the mist of the water from the fountain splashes into the air. Really nice to just sit there and chat or just sit and blank out…
I have never noticed what is really in the picture until after it was processed. Most of the time I would capture the building, the view and the angle. What is weird about these recent selected photos are that it has baby boys and girls sitting here and there… No I did not intentionally select them… they just happen to be in the picture of the moments that I thought of.
Really interesting.
To the upper left side of the picture where the door is open, I took a picture of that shop as well as you can see below on the same day.
It was at the Los Angeles Auto Show, last November that I got to see this beauty presented in one of the galleries. I took a few angles of this Lamborghini, however, I believe that this view, this angle, this moment is just right. It is not about more is less… but it is about Less is More. The design, from an architecture point of view, is so basic with the cause of simple shape elements that creates the elegance of the design. The speed of the car is unquestionable as everyone must know how fast it is. The color of the car, white, black and touch of red/orange to bring out its characteristics.
The selection of the picture today is because I have seen a few of this Lambos here in Marbella already in typical red and yellow paint. I think it would have been much nicer in white just because white is not a color and it represents neutrality, which in my opinion, is also Richard Meier’s reason for choosing all of this architectural design in white is one of the most fact that I must agree with.
I would like to share with you, tonight, the ongoing conversation that I have with my children, Joseph and Ana. It revolves around the question “What is your favorite color?” Joseph, who is four and three-quarters, always replies green, and states when asked why, that “green is the color of grass, the trees are green, green is all around us, it’s the color of spring and dollar bills.”
Ana, who is three and doesn’t like to be outdone by Joseph, replies that her favorite color is blue, and that, “the sky is blue, the pools and ponds and lakes are blue.”
And then they turn to me and ask, “Daddy, what is your favorite color?” And every time we play this gave, my response is the same: “White is my favorite color.”
“But Daddy,” Joseph says, “You can’t have white. White is not a color; white isn’t in the rainbow; you have to take a color that is in the rainbow, like red or green, or blue or yellow.”
And I have to explain that for me, white is the most wonderful color because within it you can see all the colors of the rainbow. For me, in fact, it is the color which in natural light, reflects and intensifies the perception of all of the shades of the rainbow, the colors which re constantly changing in nature, for the whiteness of white is never just white; it is almost always transformed by light and that which is changing; the sky, the clouds, the sun and the moon.
White conventionally has always been seen as a symbol of perfection, of purity and clarity. If we ask why this is the case, we realize that where other colors have relative-values dependent upon their context, white retains its absoluteness. At the same time, it may function as a color itself. It is against a white surface that one best appreciates the play of light and shadow, solids and voids. Goethe said “color is the pain of light.” Whiteness is perhaps the memory and the anticipation of color. For me, the contrast becomes the definition — that which is natural, organic, changing, contains at different times, all of the colors of the rainbow. And that which is man-made should help to focus and intensify one’s perception of all that is around us.
It appears that he has found a successful formula and he’s sticking with it, a eventually it becomes his trademark as an architect, pretty much like Frank Gehry has his dynamic architecture, and Tadao Ando and his minimalist architecture.
This vespa is made the same way with the basket weave, I have no idea what it’s called but it is really nice… don’t you think? I took this picture during a walk in Old Town Marbella, it is very close to the church where I took the picture “60 seconds of peace” The Old Town is hiding from the street, we walk thru many narrow streets, turning from corner to corner. It is amazing to see how lively it is in those narrow streets with restaurants, small cafes, shops, and patios to just sit there and relax.
The heart of Marbella is not only the beach, nor the sand but it is the dynamics of its rich culture hidden within the Old Town Marbella, Spain.
This is a great example of how we should never judge a book by its cover because we would lose the opportunity to find out what the book is really about… Let us read the book and see where the story will lead us.
I took this picture during the LA Auto Show in November 2008. I happened to get free tickets after attending one of the private events held by Porsche at the LA Auto Show for the pre-opening. Porsche is always great, especially the Cayman!!! However I feel that… this AUDI R8 has changed my mind. The style is very very very attractive!!! So much that, I have it on my wish list (when I can afford one) haha. I have never driven this one, but I did drive an Audi TT… and it was fun especially when I reached 125 MPH, or 201 KMH (on a legal stretch of road, of course!)… The adrenaline rush was just awesome. I didn’t feel like I was driving the car anymore at the point, but more of piloting a jet on the freeway.
And in Spain… it must have been fun to feel the speed here with all the round-abouts to drift around to long stretches where I can press that gas pedal and driving to the beach to just cruise day til night. >.< I miss my “coche”
Talk about speeding… I never get pulled over when I speed up to 110 MPH, but ironically I got pull over twice for speeding at 75 MPH (65 MPH is the limit) and that was the traffic speed. These cops really had nothing to do or what? They tailed me for 10 minutes before they fire up the sirens and pull me over. The worse thing is, it happened 3 days before I left to Spain.
But hey, we got to be responsible for our actions, at least that is what I believe.
Try to listen to the music while reading today then, maybe, you might understand the feeling I experienced the moment I took the picture.
Saturday, I went to for a coffee break in Puerto Banus. The coffee shop, La Pesquera, is right on the beach. It is a small hut with coffee tables and beach benches for those that would like to take a sun bath while drinking. Sitting and chilling there for bit and just doing nothing. After the coffee, I just walked around the beach trying to find the right frame to take a picture so that it say something, if not all about “Marbella”. I took quite a few pictures, but in my opinion, I believe that this is it ^_^ “An Orange sandal, a boy, Sierra Blanca (the mountain behind), and the Beach… ” I’ll just let the picture speak for itself because I am bad at expressing what I want to say, duh… if I were good at that, I might as well write a novel too. ^_^
Anyway, does anyone know how to print postcards? What kind of printer (portable if possible) and paper to get? I am interested in trying to make my own postcards ^_^.
“This is the best cultural night we’ve had in Les Roches thus far” said one of the students in the reception. “Woww, I really feel like I am in Japan and the lounge looks amazing” said another student. “The dinner experience and the restaurant decoration is awesome” said a student waiting in a line for his meal. “I can definitely go for another Nakata brouchette” a student compliment on one of our special disk that was name after “what they called me at school, Nakata” So yea, I represented that dish !! haha.
We started to organized things since noon and it promptly started at 7:00 pm. Everyone has their drinks, food, games, more drinks and is entertained by a fashion show. It wasn’t over until 11:00 pm, or somewhere around there. After all the clean up, we went out for a drink at “small world” to celebrate our completion of the event, which resulted in the picture show to you below.
We have learned so many things, in so little time. Most of the thing we learn, in my opinion, are the things that we shouldn’t do again next time. We all make mistakes but let us not concentrate on the mistakes, let us think about how do we not repeat the same mistake again, or how to make things better the next time around.
Today is the day. I would like to post this now, early in the day, knowing that I will be busy with event organization late in the evening and may not have the energy to write this later.
I am in the marketing department for this event and is responsible for most of the posters, advertisements and gathering information for those advertisements. I am very fortunate to have my teammate because they are helping me get the info organized and arrange things with other departments. Oh yes, we have drama in our department as well as with the other departments.
Okay then… here are the collective works that I did from the beginning of the event… which started with a cookie sale !!! To raise extra funding for our event…. all the way to final event poster and the 3 minutes AD on youtube. here is the link, if you can’t see the video below.
finally it is the day, less than 12 hours and all of this will be over. So that i can start concentrating on other works that i have been putting off due to this event.
After more than a month, I have seen so many McDonald’s and heard so much about it during class because we always talk about why it is so successful. During the “just drive” trip, we actually stopped for McDonald’s however, I didn’t find what I wanted, which is the $1 (dollar menu) or the (euro menu, since we are in europe) There is no surprise at to how it is going taste, because it tasted exactly the same as the one that i had in California, Thailand, Singapore, China and now Spain. How could one achieve that standard!!!! Amazing!!!! It is something that we can expect from any locale. Well, i am a big fan of McDonald’s food but i am trying to stay away from it because it tastes so good that i will keep eating it. I remember one of those day that i had McDonald’s as Breakfast, Lunch and dinner… oh well. A good old time but it wasn’t as healthy as home made food.
Ohhhhhh, i am so craving for this chinese noodle, with black vinegar, eggs, and some veggies. Darn it! now i am torturing myself thinking about it.
okie, 14 hours from now, if everything goes will, i will be doing the some dancing from the song “Snake dance” by Jay Chow. hahahahaha, why? Because an event won’t be an event without entertainment. And I’m going to make it a FUN event.
And to paraphrase a quote i learned from BASIC is that … IF IT IS TO BE, IT IS UP TO ME!!!!
During the Food and Beverage class we discussed about vinification, the wine making process and viticulture, the vine growing process. The discussion lead the class to talk about vineyards, which then lead to California’s vineyards. Ever since I drank wine, I never really like any of them but one, the Stella Rosa 1917 IL CONTE D’ALBA. I was introduced to this wine by David… It has a transparent pink color with a very smooth texture, no residue, a scent of wild fruit, tastes lightly sweet (just right!) and very bubbly. I LOVE THIS WINE…!!! I couldn’t find one here in Spain. Oh well, we should discuss more about wine on later date.
Talking about the wine and where to get the Stella Rosa reminded me of the photo I took of Hollywood. After searching into my photo archive for about an hour, I finally found it!!!
First of all, before I blog any further today, I would like to say that… the internet at the campus is beyond!!!!! words!!! I am way too upset to even start writing. For the internet, there are 2 choices, connected but slow… way slower than dial-up… and another choice is… not connected at all! It is just depends on the routers mood. My mood right now is… !@#$!@#$!$#
Okay… that was unprofessional, but I just wanted to share this experience to the world. Anyways, while the router still in good mood, I am trying to blog as fast as I can before the router goes out on me again.
For today, it is Asti Ristorante Cucina Italiana in San Diego, California. hours of driving from Los Angeles to San Diego, we craved Italian food, so we went to this restaurant for dinner after checking in at U.S. Grant, San Diego. Because we didn’t make a reservation, it took us about 20 minutes wait before we get a table.
The food here was superb, we ordered Lasagna and Panni because we felt like something really CHEESY. Starting off with bread and butter, we ended up with an extra order bread and butter because they were so good!!!
Well, I choose this picture today because we have a project to start our own restaurant that has to have a marketing plan, menu, theme and kitchen plan, so the asti restaurant inspired me to wanted to open one that is as successful as this, with people lining up waiting for tables, providing great food and service.
Now… I just want some of that Lasagna and Panni!!!!
I noticed regarding my patterns, that I am likely to post photos that are related to some source of activities that I did during the day. Today is no exception. We had a Stage Fair in the lobby area and in the Bristol bar. The event consisted of students presenting their experiences during their internships around the world. The way the table was organized reminded me of the moment I took this picture at Harris Ranch Inn & Restaurant which I remember as being in the middle of nowhere; check out the map here.
Because it is in the middle of nowhere, I wasn’t really prepared for what it would be inside. To my surprise… it is nicely decorated. It feel nice and cozy in the restaurant. As for the food, I tried the “Mediterranean Omelet”, a really interesting meal for breakfast because the omelet is sweet and sour in the same time.
This is a bad idea, blogging about food at night… makes me really want to eat something right now. Well, the food here are way too oily / unhealthy for me. Because of that, I am on no-meat diet… again!!! But I still eat seafood, just no more beef, chicken, pork or lamb. I have enough of those for a while.
So what do they call people who only eat seafood? Seafoodarain???
Before you is the picture of the balcony of the legendary man who redefined Art.
Everyone knows “Pablo Diego José Francisco de Paula Juan Nepomuceno María de los Remedios Cipriano de la Santísima Trinidad Ruiz y Picasso” or Pablo Picasso for short.
The name Picasso has been associated to me, in my early years, with abstraction, broken, messy and chaotic; however, these associations have changed thru time after in-depth study about him during my studies in Architecture. Art, just like everything else, has it time from the classical to modern eras and in my opinion, I believe that it is he, Picasso, who redefined ART forever. When we are thinking about art, we think of the beauty of the work and how the art pleases everyones eye. But for Picasso, his work went beyond the realm of reality. He brought us into different dimensions, the emotional.
How could one create works that express emotion? Till today, Picasso is still my hero!!!
The photo was taken during the trip to Malaga at the Fundacion Picasso. Lucky for me that the Foundation is open on Sunday FOR FREE!!! However they only open 2 floors, but it is better than nothing. There were so much, too much, for me to take in about this life and his work but it is for sure… an unforgettable memory, to be in the house of Pablo Picasso.
Valentine’s Day… It’s finally came, once again. So yep, I went out on a date… a date between me and music. At the school, we have a piano concert by Duo del Sol that will be playing songs from 2 composers. And interesting enough it was the 2 favorite composers that my dear Jenny, is so passionate about which are Franz SCHUBERT and Robert SCHUMANN. It was my first time attending a piano concert but instead of feeling weird about it, I actually enjoyed it. I was alone, but yet, I wasn’t alone.
I am sure that you must have heard the phrase that “a picture speaks a thousand words” and the same can be implied regarding music with the exception of the intensity of the words that are being spoken by the music because the vibration of the sounds vibrate in me from within.
Today’s piano concert has reminded me of the day that we went to San Diego not long ago before I came to Spain. The picture above is the crystal piano from the Museum of Making Music in San Diego. We had less than an hour to go around the entire museum, so we just went around as fast as we can, pressing every button there is on the way and listen to the different sound of the instruments. Read about the history of music and instrument, and then we came across this KAWAI crystal piano… my imaginary dream piano that actually exists!!!
One day, soon enough, I will have this piano in my living room. Last I checked, it is going for $94,000… so it is going to be a while before I get to see it in my living room. None the less, there is nothing wrong dreaming about it!
US Grant, San Diego, California, USA. It was just a week before I left to Spain to pursue my career in Hospitality Management. Thank you to David, my friend and boss at the same time for hooking me up for this hotel that cost $675 / night. I get to stay 2 nights there. It was an amazing experience, and that gives me hope in Hospitality Management again.
Today I felt like writing this review due to the lecture in our class in Room Division Department and to understand about how they operate each room and how does house keeping work. The best way I believe is to organize the house keepers in teams. So that the teams can be self motivated and self check to keep everything up to the hotel STANDARDS.
It is best to work in teams, it is the TEAM EFFORT that bring success to life. I have realized that, we cannot do anything by ourselves, ever. There is always someone somewhere that is helping you to become successful. What do you think?
I took the photos from the front of the hotel, the interior and the view from the room. Awesome room upgrade
Okay, so you have 80 sec to finish that DOUGHNUT, ready… set…. GO!!! Here is some water for you to chuck all these doughnuts down… well, actually it wasn’t this big. There is one that the shop “Voodoo Doughnut” has for customers who DARE to finish their 12 inch diameter monsters in under 80 sec with a glass of water helping you to chuck ‘em down. NOOO of course I didn’t make it because I didn’t want to choke myself. After watching one person who gave up after 40 sec, I, who was only half his size, did not dare to.
Voodoo Doughnut, Portland, Oregon. The only place where you can get a doughnut that’s called “Cock and Balls” and where the magic is in the HOLE. Check out the link and you would know what I mean… It is a nice cozy shop that makes fresh doughnuts every few minutes. Yumm… That is all i can say. Sigh… at myself sitting here in Spain, wanting some Doughnut’s SO BADLY!!!
Will anyone be kind enough to UPS some to me? I will provide you the address!!! Thank you!
