Good morning to sunflowers and bees

Share

It’s must have been a few days since I had uploaded this picture, but I hardly had the time to post anything. Oh well, here I am with my 5 minutes of time to post this picture.

I ran into a field of sunflowers the other day when I went with my grandmother for her regular health check up. Taking pictures of flowers sure is hard. The hardest part is to make the flower come “alive” on the photo. Fortunately I was with my Canon 85 mm lens, hence the resulting pictures were taken. The bees… bring everything to life in this picture! The picture shown below is actually cropped from the other picture.

Macro photography is fun!!

Ayutthaya Wat Mahathat Flower on the rock, Thailand

Somewhere to belong…
… to hang on to

Somewhere with stability… consistency… security…
… to grow slowly… strongly…

Beauty, but short lived… the irony of a flower.

Orgiva Flower Daisy

After looking for pictures for hours in my thousands of images archived that I have taken over the past 2 years, everĀ  since I got the camera, I found this picture that I took at a friend house in Orgiva, Spain to be very inspiring for me….

… I must have wrote pages for this post but chose to erase it because I couldn’t really explain why I choose this photo for today, November 11, 2009 – my 26th birthday.

Why?

Just because.

A day, a night, a year… with hope that achieves the impossible.

Silver Lake, Vineyard… a piece of Europe in Thailand.

Pattaya Silver Lake vineyard

Ahh Silver Lake… a vineyard that is hidden in a mist of mountains in Pattaya, Thailand. When I was told that we were going to a Vineyard… I couldn’t believe my ears! A Vineyard??? in THAILAND??? It just doesn’t click to me! I just didn’t know that we have vineyard in Thailand, well it was a news flash to me!

In my imagination, I thought of hills full of vineyards, well it wasn’t that big. However to me, it was more of a mock-up of vineyard and European culture and climate, yet very interesting.

I guess, in the end… no matter how hard they try to make it look and feel like EUROPE, it CAN ONLY and ALWAYS will be a EUROPEAN wannaBE vineyard.
We just have to admit that… things can never simply be replace by something else and hope that it would produce the same results.

Tulips before the Castle, Madrid, Spain

Share

Madrid Tulip Field near the Palace

A castle is made to provide protection for residents
The architecture of the castle is to distinguish itself from everything else
The columns are meant to support the structure
The walls are made to prevent elements from entering
Everything is meant to separate the inside from the outside

Except the windows… which are made to “LET” in the light and “LET” the residences inside to enjoy the view outside.
The view like this tulip field right before the castle.

A gently touch that turns a cold harsh castle into a loving and welcoming one.

Olivo Dinner

After weeks after weeks, I have been learning how to serve, set up tables, arrange forks and spoons, how to serve drinks and so on. Finally, I got to be the customer this evening. Most of the students here, especially the 1st years, hate coming here to eat because the portions are really small and the food… sometimes is not that great, well most of the time… why? Because the food are made by students as well.

They decorate the place every Friday night and tonight, is no exception. They don’t allow the use of cameras in there because it disturbs people while they are eating. The restaurant suppose to be a classroom for students to practice, just like what I do most of the time. It has been a month since I came to Spain and I am already exhausted with all the activities here… but not that I am complaining… I do enjoy working and studying here… it’s FUN!!

Well, this coming week… it’s going to be crazier than before… because all of the posters will be due, along with a preview video for the event that we are managing for 400 people. I will post up all the posters and the video after March 11. Because I don’t want the students here to see all the “secrets” yet.

Until then, I am going to have a good nights rest, and start thinking about the 3 essays that will be due on Tuesday.

Bon Appertito… Did I say it right?
